And mama's second. I have only been to the ER once before for myself. That was when I was about 10 yrs old and getting my appendix out. So it has been a while.
WARNING: This is not for those with a weak stomach or those who hate TMI.
Yesterday I woke up feeling like crap! It has been almost 5 weeks since I have woken up with the nausea and I have only had one vomitting experience in the last 5 weeks, so this feeling was a surprise to me. I pretty much think it was due to the sugar hang over I had from Super Bowl. I will never eat like that again! My body is just not use to it and I think little James does not like sugar. Anyway... I wanted to document last nights events so I could remember what happened.
I came home from work and a walk yesterday afternoon still feeling a bit queezy when I lost everything that was in my stomach, along with lots of water! I usually feel better after that, but I didn't, so I laid down for a nap. After a few hours I forced myself to eat, but really couldn't do much of that, which is also abnormal for me, even when I am nauseous. Long story short, I continued to lose any food or fluid that went into my body. I got my classes covered for the night and remained on the couch until Haws got home. He then had our home teacher come over and they gave me a blessing. (Thanks Seth) I called the Dr. on call and she called me back. I talked to her for about 1 min and then started throwing up again, so Haws took the phone and she said to go to the ER.
SO we went to Hoag, which was an awesome experince and I am so glad we are having our baby there. They checked me in and I even got my own room in labor and delivery. No draped room with a million other sick people. I dry heaved once while I was in there, so they knew I was dehydrated. The Doc on call ended up being someone from the church and I knew his kids and grandkids! He was great and so was the nurse. I got an IV and medication to stop the nausea. The minute I got that IV I started feeling better. He said the dehydration probably caused the vicious cycle of vommitting. They took some blood tests and they all came back normal, so there was no virus, thank goodness!
The upside to the story is that while I was laying there with my IV drip, watching one of my favorite shows Castle, I felt the little guy move!!!! It felt like bubbles or tapping. He was probably wondering what the heck was going on. We also got to hear his heart beat and it sounded great, so that put some of my worry aside. Once I was done with the IV I was able to go home.
I am so glad everything was OK. Once I got that blessing, I knew it would be, but it was good I went to the hospital and got the fluids I needed and the reassurance that the little guy was OK :)

That is exactly where we were on Friday doing the exact same thing (just a few thousand miles away)
So happy that you're feeling better!
Oh, I'm so sorry you got so sick, but I'm delighted that all is well and you got to feel him move. That is the best!
My brother was just telling me that you had to go to the ER. Glad you had the story on your blog. It is fun to feel the baby move. It just makes it that much more real. So glad that you are feeling better! We need to try to get together sometime soon!
I know all about it! That's why I ended up in the ER twice while pregnant! I'm so glad both you and baby are doing good AND that you felt James move!!! (love the name)!
You just need to eat junk food all the time like me, and nothing will ever phase your stomach! Glad you're doing ok. Just wait, the moving will get more and more crazy. Soon you'll think there's an alien inside of you.
Phew! I'm so glad everything was okay. Isn't feeling the baby move the best thing ever? Might be the ONE thing I like about being pregnant, aside from the cute baby you get at the end. :)
Oh and I love the name James!
