Rise and Shout! The Cougars are out!

We made a trip out to Utah this weekend to visit the old stomping grounds of both Haws and I in Provo, Utah. Haws spent a little more time out with the "cougars" than I did. He spent the years of 2001-2004 in the BYU library (so he says) on the ice with the BYU Ice Cats, and hanging out with his roommates during "music fest". I had a one years stay in "P" town, but wasn't quite driven enough academically to make it into BYU, so I attended one year at UVSC. I had a good time out in Provo but returned to CA where it was warm. Although I was never a "cougar", I have fond memories of being awaken in the early morning hours by my mother singing the anthem.. "Rise and Shout the Cougars are out!!!"... in which I replied by either throwing my pillow over my head or at the door way in which she stood. Sorry mom. Anyway... we had a great visit with friends and family and a fun time at the Alpine slides out in Park City. If you go there... you have to ride the coaster. So much fun! we caught some of the action on camera... sorry Dana, but the pics of me aren't the greatest either :)

Dana and Chase picked us up at the airport and we headed out for dinner, which thanks to Dana's hookup, we got half of the bill taken off! After dinner... Chase introduced us to one of the funniest songs/videos on youtube. The rest of the trips theme was... "It's business time!" Take a look for a good laugh.

This is how we got our business started!

We headed out to Park City after a morning walk for the girls and feast of french toast swimming in syrup from Magleby's Fresh for the boys. We hit up both the Alpine Slides and the "Coaster" Ride. I loved the Coaster! I was on the controls (which of course I liked) and I didn't hit the breaks once!

Chase: "Two minutes. Two minutes in Heaven is Better than One minute in Heaven".
I am guessing that at this point, Chase was contemplating how he could build his own Alpine Slide... He did after all build the blue water slide at Seven Peaks water park.

When I asked Dana if we could ride the coaster one more time with me... this is the response I got. She wasn't to keen on me being in control of the brake :)

As we were in the car getting ready to leave the slides... Haws' old buddies came tapping on our window. What a fun surprise to run into the group we were planning to see that night at the wedding reception! Unfortunately... we didn't get any of those characters caught on film. Diego and Emily make a great couple and we were so happy we were able to celebrate their marriage with them that night.

We headed back to Provo for a trip to Cafe Rio per Haws' request... no one objected to the idea.
Nothing says Provo like Cafe Rio!

Sunday was full of visits to some of our family members in Utah. After searching for a sacrament meeting, we headed to Aunt Laree's for lunch, then off to see my cousin Kristin and her identical twin girls... Ava and Sofia. They are adorable! I didn't expect anything less from Kristin and DJ. Dalton is a handful alone and with two newborn babies in the house... I don't know how she is going to make it! Luckily DJ gave her a "break" by heading out to Africa for 10 days, so my Aunt Sue was there helping her out.

The Twins :)

How this little lady does it... I have no clue!

A classic Dalton look!

Haws' brother Jared and his wife Sarah (who are expecting their first baby in Jan) were good enough to have us for dinner with their Aunt Joyce. It was great being able to spend some time with Haws' family and meet his Aunt. Jared made homemade sourdough bread... my weakness! I think I ate half the loaf! Thanks Jared :)

I'm so jealous that you got to meet the twins. I'm so anxious to see them. I might have to make a special trip out to Utah to see them.

you are hilarious with your comment about the do your kids play by themselves bit. Cute pictures of the babies. I'm anxious to see them - maybe holiday time?

What a fun trip! I'm sorry I missed you, but it sounds like you were able to "cram" a lot in in a short time. Grandma is still here with us and today we took her up to Park City and through the Alpine Loop to see the fall leaves. (She didn't want to stop and go on the Alpine Slide though...go figure!)I love that everyone is "blogging". It's such a great way to stay in touch.

I have such great memories of watching basketball games projected onto the wall in your Aunt Laree's basement. She always had the best treats on hand for us. Thanks for helping me walk down my memories of P-town.
