Me... Gluten Free???? Uggg!
During a conversation this weekend one of my fellow Pilates friends about bodily ailments (I will spare the details). It was brought to my attention that I may have an intolerance to Gluten. I have had signs of celiac disease in my blood in the past, but the biopsies came out clear. After researching some of the side effects and signs of being allergic to gluten, I have decided to try a gluten free diet for a month to see if any of these ailments improve or disappear. This is a very sad thing for me. If any of you know me well... you know I love bread! I have all ready had to cut dairy out of my diet due to my lactose intolerance, this giving up wheat thing is going to be tough. I headed out to Trader Joes and Wholefoods today and found some decent sounding gluten free foods like bread, cereal and nutrition bars. The bread actually wasn't have bad and to tell you the truth... my stomach actually feels pretty good tonight! SO the reason for this post is mainly to document this myself, but also to get any advice from any of you who may have experienced gluten resistance as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can definitely empathize. I went without wheat for about 10 days this past month and it was rough. I was relieved to go back to just the dairy-free diet. So while I hope your symptoms get better, on the other hand I hope it's not gluten intolerance.
I went on a gluten free diet awhile back cause they said I was allergic to it as well. I felt better, I lost weight but I couldn't keep up with it. It was such a hard change and I just felt like there was nothing to eat. I know now they have a lot more. I actually got some really good cinnamon bars. I am sorry but I know you will do great with it. You do feel better. I just need to be more disciplined. I am lactose intolerant as well but for some reason I keep eating it and feel sick afterwards. It just tastes good at the time :)
i feel bad for you...i would cry
Luke was on a GF/CF diet for a while... now its just dairy-free. Best of luck, its just a lot of work and self-discipline. I imagine feeling better all the time may be great motivation.
Let me know if you need any recipes or ideas. Katherine is also a great resource as Franny is on the same diet. She'll be a wealth of good food ideas.
Good luck
My roommate had celiac disease...I will find out what cake and brownie mixes she uses...they are SOOOO good! I would eat them myself. So good luck with that, and hey, its healthier anyway! Brian has a lot of food allergies, so we have to eat like that a lot too. So don't feel alone!!
My mom has celiac disease, and a lot of the kids I work with are on gluten free diets. If anyone can do it you can. One of the mom's I work with makes amazing bake goods with a mixture of different kinds of flours let me know if you need some tips!
There are a lot of gluten free blogs out there that you would probably like. I'll start sending them your way when I come across them. As I think you already know, Franny is on a GFCF diet, but I don't think you'd be interested in them. They're most yucky kid food recipes. It's really not too bad once you get used to it.
Your so good Lori! Good luck with this. I think it is really hard to eliminate food groups from your diet. (Especially because the minute you "can't" have something...you just want it more!) But you are so disciplined and self controlled that I know you can do it, especially if you start to feel better! Good luck!
