Projects

As you may have read in a previous post... I took a sewing class. Verdict: I can not sew!!! Although my friend Sara who designs and sews wedding dresses (man she is talented! If anyone wants a beautiful wedding gown, I will send you her way) says she can teach me how to sew, I fear I am hopeless! I just don't think I have the knack for it.
This is the apron I started in my class. I was doing OK until I messed up and tried to rip the seam out. Instead, I ended up ripping the material!!! I guess all that pilates had made me stronger than I thought. I was so bummed and pretty much gave up after that. I tried to start a new apron, but just couldn't get into it.
Then I was telling my sewing story to a friend who I met while going through my pilates certification. We keep saying we need to hang out more and I mentioned how since I can't sew, I wanted to learn how to knit of something like that. It just happens that she was learning how to knit herself and we decided to take it up together. Once a week we will be getting together to have a girls knitting night. I am actually enjoying the knitting (although I had to unravel 2 nights worth of work). I find it very relaxing and love the rhythm of it. This is my re-start of the first scarf I am trying to make. I think I am making pretty good progress.

Lori- I remember taking sewing in Jr High school. I made Kristin a dress (she was 2 or 3 yrs old). It was a red sailor dress. She wore it just around the house, but it wasn't good enough to wear out. I have tried simple things since that but I do think you have to have a knack for it. Good luck with the knitting! I think you should stick with it!

I'm proud of you Lori. It's always fun to try new things. I love to crochet, and I'm going to try and take up knitting this year! You'll have to show me a few tips!

Hi Lori!
Glad you found me and I hope you enjoy the random blogs I'll occasionally post. Anyway, I added you to my page. I too love to knit. Although all I've made is scarf's, I've still been successful to complete them. Although the beginning was rough and I know I did some cursing and was ready to quit all together, but I hung on. :) Talk to you again soon! Lani ///

Lori, I'm so glad you found knitting. It must be therapeutic and I'm glad that you will be able to make your grandkids cute matching christmas sweaters (you'll be a pro by then)
