San Francisco Weekend

For Christmas, I gave Haws a weekend trip to San Fran. We were only there for 2 nights, but of course... I had planned for us to get as much in as possible. Haws at one point said he wanted to take a nap. Unfortunately, that was not on the itinerary :)

We got in Sat afternoon and headed out to the Wharf for Clam Chowder in bread bowls and a night tour to Alcatraz. I met a nice man on the cable car names "motor mouth Bob" who gave me maps to the city and tips on the best places to see. He talked with me the whole ride... he really did live up to his name. I was saddened by the fact the clam chowder had bacon in it (I don't dig on swine), so I had to settle for veggie chili while Haws enjoyed the Manhattan clam chowder I had looked forward to eating. Then we set sail to Alcatraz. To our dismay, we discovered that the battery in our camera was dying and this was the only picture we got for the whole night. This tour in amazing! I definitely recommend it to anyone going to SF. Crazy the things that went on here and these little cells the prisoners lived in. After the tour... we met up with our friends Paul and Rebecca who were also visiting SF for the weekend. We ate at Kuletos, a nice Italian restaurant in Union Square. Thanks to Rebecca who found a cockroach crawling along the wall by our table, we got the meal for FREE! We then walked for about an hour to find Cafe Jacqueline's for chocolate souffles. It is a very small place, reservations are needed, but the souffles are huge and so worth it!

The next morning we went to church where I sat right behind a girl I use to go to the Church Youth Dances with. Such a small world!

For brunch, we went to Sear Fine Food. This place is classic and I think one of our favorite places. Haws had 18 mini pancakes and I had the veggie omelette, delish!

We didn't eat at Lori's Diner, but I had to take a pic by it. There are at least 3 of these in the city.

For some reason... Haws really liked this hot dog sign and felt the need to take his photo in front of it also.

Our Tours Guides

Later that day, my cousin Nicole and her husband Ty with little Cambria were nice enough to take us on a tour around the city. We walked down to Fisherman's wharf where Haws got a little present from one of the seagulls while we were looking at the sea lions. Luckily, Nicole was fully equiped with baby wipes.

We headed across the Golden Gate bridge for some more photo ops. It was so cold!!! I could only manage to get out of the car long enough to take these.

The next morning we went for a walk through Presidio Park and got some more good shots of the bridge.

Next we headed to the Explortorium. I think this place might have been even cooler if we had kids... but we found it to be fun running around looking at all the "senses" exhibits.

I think Haws looks like a Leprechaun in this picture! The big chair makes him look so small and that red hair... to bad we left the green leotard and tights at home.

We tried to take some pics in the distorted room, but the kids were bouncing around attacking us, so this is what we got.

The weekends was a success and we had so much fun. Especially being able to visit with family and friends while we were there as well as spend some quality time together. We were pretty exhausted after this trip... but we recuperated in enough time to drive to Vegas for the night the following Sat. Those pics are to come...

You Are Belle!

Intelligent and kind. Your beauty goes much further than your apperance. Also, you make judgements of people based on their personality and not their looks. Attaining all the knowledge that you can is one of your major goals in life, but you are also a person who can make things happen.

Me... Gluten Free???? Uggg!

During a conversation this weekend one of my fellow Pilates friends about bodily ailments (I will spare the details). It was brought to my attention that I may have an intolerance to Gluten. I have had signs of celiac disease in my blood in the past, but the biopsies came out clear. After researching some of the side effects and signs of being allergic to gluten, I have decided to try a gluten free diet for a month to see if any of these ailments improve or disappear. This is a very sad thing for me. If any of you know me well... you know I love bread! I have all ready had to cut dairy out of my diet due to my lactose intolerance, this giving up wheat thing is going to be tough. I headed out to Trader Joes and Wholefoods today and found some decent sounding gluten free foods like bread, cereal and nutrition bars. The bread actually wasn't have bad and to tell you the truth... my stomach actually feels pretty good tonight! SO the reason for this post is mainly to document this myself, but also to get any advice from any of you who may have experienced gluten resistance as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Playing Ketchup!

I have been lagging on my blogging lately. There has been a few things I have been meaning to document, just haven't gotten around to yet.
A few weekends ago, when we actually had no weddings to attend, Haws and I decided to go on a date out in LA, go to the ring place where he bought my engagements and wedding ring, attend the Temple and hit up the restaurant Ketchup I have been wanting to go to since my birthday. It is definitely not a place to go with a big group (they charge and arm and a leg for parties over 7, which is ridiculous!) but it was a lot of fun and the food was great!
I forgot my camera... so these are some shots from Haws' camera. He discovered this new feature where you can put a pic in a bubble. It's cheesy, so I had to post it.
Haws patiently waited for his food while checking out "the scene".
He was going for the "I've had a hard day at work... I am ready to let loose" look.
The place served 5 different kinds of ketchup... yum yum. I love Ketchup!!!
The Manhattan Clam chowder was delicious!
Haws got the Sloppy Joe. It was very sloppy.

Bang Help

So as you can see... Chelcie cut me bangs. I loved the way they looked when she styled my hair, but now that I have to do my hair myself I can't get them to stay put! Any advice for me? I have never been good in the "hair styling" department. Mainly because I hate to take the time to do it.

Ahhhh just chop it!

After growing my hair out for my wedding and enjoying the ease of putting it back in a pony tail/ bun... I have decided to go back to the short hair. I have always loved short hair, but was trying to see how long I could get it to grow. It seemed like it was not making much progress, so I decided to chop it off again. Funny... my Aunt had just commented on how it was looking so long!
I think I may even go a little shorted next time. Thanks Chelcie for doing such a great job, as always :)
Not the best pics. But this is usually what I look like after working all day and I had to take the pictures myself since I wasn't telling Haws about the new style. He tells me he really likes it.
Before
After

I tried to smile in this one... but I felt kind of funny smiling for myself. I like the mug shots better.
