Davis at 3

Davis' 3 year old stats
30lbs (30%)
38 inches (50%)

Davis has entered into the 3 year old phase of life. He is so funny, learning new things, becoming more adventurous, insisting on being independent, giving us attitude, fighting doing things that are not his idea, he laughs a lot, likes to be goofy and can get himself into trouble quite easily. Ohhh, the ups and downs with a 3 year old!
But really... he is such a cute kid. He may learn the hard way from some of his choices, but my hope is that he is learning. His favorite time to push the boundaries is at dinner time and night time. We are working on what works with him. It's funny how you have to use different tactics with each child. It really keeps your parenting skills fresh.
Davis requested a Garbage Truck cake for his 3rd birthday (just like James did!)
We had a lot of fun making it together. Davis loves helping in the kitchen. He always wants to be up on the counter, right in the action. Licking the beater is his favorite part of baking of course.
We just had a small family party here in Utah and then one in CA when we went to visit a week later.

Here is Davis and cousin Winnie showing he is 3. Another thing about Davis... he would be naked 24/7 if we let him. He calls it "full nature boy". Sometimes he is just "nature boy, which is underpants on and that's it.

Davis has been pretty good at potty training. The first couple of weeks were rough and we still have occasional accidents... but I was shocked when he started taking himself to go poop! That took forever with James. I'm glad that parenting task is mostly over with. It really is something I don't look forward to. Especially sick and pregnant. But it's gotta be done!

Davis loves his big brother. Even though they can fight like crazy at times... they really do love each other and it is so fun to see how close they are. Davis wants to be like James in a lot of ways. His latest thing is when I ask him what he wants to eat or drink, he will ask what James is having and want that. James is funny sometimes and won't tell Davis what he is having just so they can be different. But James also likes having Davis play with him or likes to teach him new things.

Davis has always been my more cautious child... but the little boy in him is coming out and he is becoming more adventurous and loves moving his little body. He has gotten pretty good on the balance bike and sometimes gets going so fast it freaks me out!

With all the challenges that this age brings, Davis really is so fun to have in our family and I love him so much. He loves playing with anything with wheels, digging, being outside, riding his bike, reading, coloring, play dough, cooking and snuggling to watch TV.

New House

It;s taken me over a year to post this! So I am just going to do it now. There are rooms that are missing, so I will add those later. But this is our first Utah home. We love it, we love our neighborhood and if we are going to be in Utah... this is the place we are suppose to be.

Calvin is One!!!

12 month stats

30.5 inches (75%)
19.5 lbs (10%)
head 18.5 (60%)

How can a year go by so quickly?? And why does it take me 2 months to write one little post?
Oh yeah... maybe it's the 3 busy little boys running around and the little baby in my belly that has been sucking up all my physical and mental energy. More about that later. This post is for you my sweet Calvin!

Calvin is at such a fun age. Because he hasn't started walking... (or even close to it!) He is still fairly easy, which is such a blessing. At the age of one he has a great sense of humor. Laughs a lot. Loves his brothers. Is definitely on the move even with out wanting to be on his feet. He is a fast little crawler and has quick movements. He is a champ when it comes to eating! The only thing that slows him down are colds and getting teeth. Otherwise... he eats pretty much anything and a lot of it! Calvin shows me lots of love and affection. He tries to eat my face still, gives the best cuddles and looks at me with a face of admiration. It sure makes me feel good. The best is when I walk into his room in the morning or after naps he sits up and with a big grin on his face, starts to clap! I will be sad when I don't get this reaction anymore. He still takes an hour morning nap and a 2-3 hour afternoon nap. He is a good sleeper, but will still have random waking at night due to being sick or teething.

This winter he has been hit with cold after cold. He unfortunately was sick on his birthday and we didn't do much to celebrate. We took him out for dinner and dessert the night of his birthday and then celebrated with cake on the weekend with family. He even had his Nana and Bop here to celebrate which is always a treat! He was pretty tired when it was time for cake and wasn't that into it. He has since gained a new appreciation for sweets and will dive into a cake no problem!

Calvin's nick name is "Cutie Boy". Something his brothers named him. He wears it well. We all love this Cutie Boy so much! I can't imagine life with out him.

Calvin 7-10.5 months

When I fail to blog for months and months... I usually just pick up where I am at and don't try to play catch up. But when you have a sweet little boy who you want to document milestones for, you have to condense it all into one post.
This stage is my favorite stage with babies. They are so fun and interactive and learning new things all of the time. Calvin is simply a joy! I would call him a content baby... but now he is starting to get into the "I want it this way" stage. But really... he is pretty pleasant still.

At 7 months he was taking 2 solid (much needed) naps, enjoying eating solids, watching his brothers, discovering more ways to use his voice, sitting up like a champ.

At 8 months he became more interested in playing with toys, would roll around to get places or crawl backwards.

At nine months he discovered a funny way to get places. I wouldn't call it a crawl. It was more of a roll and scoot. He started feeding himself finger foods really well at this age. He loves to gibber jabber and wrestle with his brother. We battled some colds this month and he started to refuse to nurse. So I started pumping pretty exclusively. Eventually my milk supple started to diminish and by his 10 month bday I was done. It was still a painful process... but probably a lot better than if I had stopped nursing while still producing a good supply.

At 9 months his stats were:
17lbs (still 5-10%)
almost 28 inches (40%)
head 60%

Calvin started to really crawl right before his 10 month birthday.
He started getting more adventurous with his eating and tried grapefruit. He loves it! I just gotta watch him for he doesn't choke!

By the 11 month mark he is starting to seem interested in pulling himself up... but hasn't completely achieved success with it yet. He is getting to that wiggly stage where it is hard to hold him on my lap for very long. He loves chasing around his brothers, eating, sleeping, singing, dancing, clapping his hands and he thinks he is pretty funny. He is quite the charmer and is always flirting with the ladies. I still can't believe that he will be one soon! Luckily, he is in no hurry to grow up and still seems very much like a baby. He will still rest his head on my should while I rock him. He loves to cuddle.
I love this love bug of mine and feel so blessed to be his mother.

James 4.5 years

James is so much fun at this age! We still have moments of frustration, whining, drama and some sass... but 4 has been a fun age so far with James.
James is adventurous, imaginative, inquisitive, smart, sensitive, loving and is becoming more helpful. He can also be bossy, mean to Davis (sometimes Davis deserves it), likes to test boundaries, a back talker to me and a tease. Yes... he is still a 4 year old boy!
James loves preschool! He has really exploded in the learning department. He can recite the alphabet, count to above 20, learned the pledge of allegiance, memorizes songs, is learning basic addition and I am starting to work with him on reading.  He is very social and loves his friends. Every week he asks to have friends over. He is really good about including everyone. His broadening world is exciting to him. He likes to try new things and play with his toys. His favorite things are Ninja Turtles, Dragons, Rescue Bots, still loves trucks and cars. He loves watching videos on youtube about snakes, spiders and sea animals. He often times tells me to ask my phone when he has a question I don't know the answer to. Siri knows it all!

James is a funny kids. In this picture he is telling me that this glob of slim is baby Jesus.

He loves stealing my phone and taking 200 selfies of himself like this or pictures around the house. Its funny to see how the world must look to him!

For Christmas his preschool class did a program with Christmas songs. It was adorable. James is sitting next to one of his favorite buddies, Carter in the picture.

James still rotates things/toys that are his "buddies". This is a Dragon that was destined for the DI bin at my parents house. He clung onto it the whole time we were in CA after Christmas.

James loves his dad! One day a few months ago he said something about how he loved Haws more than me. It hurt my feelings (I know... it shouldn't) and Haws gave him a talking to about how much I do for the family and how much I love James. I don't think it helped. In fact I think it was funny to James and now he will constantly say things like "Dad is the best!' "I love Dad the most". It doesn't hurt my feelings anymore. I know he loves me. He will still tell me and his actions show it. I think he just gets a kick out of getting reactions out of us! He is a total tease.

James and Davis are best friends... and worst enemies! Some days they play so well together. But some days it's non-stop fighting! I can't stand the fighting! I know it's just how it is going to be right now... but I can tell they love each other :) James loves Calvin. He is really sweet with him. He will try to make Calvin laugh or he will comfort him when he is crying. He called Calvin "Little Cutie Boy". Now that Calvin is mobile though, you can see where he might get himself into trouble with James. James is still territorial about his special things when it comes to his brothers.

We put James in his first sport this year. He did soccer and it was fun watching him run around with his team. He doesn't quite get the concept of kicking the ball down the field and scoring... but he had a lot of fun!

We had our first set of stitches this past week! I was giving James a piggyback ride and then Davis wanted in on the fun. So I told James to hold on tight while I picked up Davis to put him in the front. I was bouncing around with them when all of a sudden James let go! He slid right down my back and smacked his chin on the floor! It was horrible! Blood was gushing from his chin! Luckily my mom was at the house because she was in town helping Dana with baby Jane and had brought the twins over to our house. So I was able to run the twins home and have my mom stay with my kids while I took James to the urgent care. It was a pretty deep gash and he got 2 stitches on the inside and 5 on the outside. He was really brave. I was the one that almost fainted! He kept saying he never wants to do a piggyback ride again! I'm sure he will take that back.

James can be a challenge at times, but he really is so fun to have around. I am going to be sad when he goes to kindergarten and I don't get to spend as much time with him. I just love him so much!
