The First Month

I can't believe my little peanut is already a month old! And yet, it seems like he has been with us longer than that. Does that make sense? It is kind of like when you get married... it is all so new, yet comfortable to the point that you feel like you have been married for years. I just love this sweet little boy. This past month flown by despite the lack of a full night of sleep. I am healing pretty well and feel almost like I am getting back to my old self. Hopefully in 2 weeks I won't have discomfort in my incision area at all. These days it is just occasional, like when I have done too much. I was good the first 2 weeks about not lifting James, but it is kind of a joke to think I can take care of him all day and never pick him up. I just try to lift with my arms and legs as much as possible.
Davis has already grown so much! I have no clue how much he weighs now at 1 month, but at his 2 week check up he was 7 lbs 8 oz... so I am sure he has passed the 8lb mark. He is such a sweet baby. Just look at him!

His umbilical cord fell off about 10 days in, so we have been enjoying bath time a few times a week. He loves the bath... must remind him of that huge pool of water he was swimming in before he was born! The bath I have has hamock like thing to place your newborn in. He likes to hang his feet over the sides and stick them in the water. He just looks so chill in the bath.

He is starting to get little rolls on the inside of his thighs, which I love.

This is his maddog look. Both of our boys got their mom's scowl. It is much cuter on them than it is on me.

Davis loves to lay on the floor and stare out the window. This is one of his wake-time activities. Seeing that his wake-times are still pretty short, their is not a whole lot we do during those times. He does tummy time, hangs out in the bouncer while I do things, we go for walks or we just sit and talk :)
James has decided he also likes to lay on the floor with Davis. When I lay the blanket out, he hops right down beside Davis to hang out.

Davis is sleeping in 3 hour stretches most nights. Every once in a while he will do 4 hours or 2.5... but 3 is pretty standard. During the day he is on a 2.5-3 hour feeding schedule with 1 hour wake-times. I still have to work to keep him awake while I am nursing. It is funny how it makes us both so tired!

James loves the bounder too! I will often find him like this. It wasn't that long ago that it belonged just to him.

Oh I'm so happy for you and your house. I can just imagine being there, it is so sweet to watch the big brother get acquainted to the little brother. Hope you are feeling all back to normal in the next month or so (ok I really hope it's tomorrow but it take me at least 6-8 weeks to get out of the newborn haze-it's not a bad haze to be in though) He really is so cute and looks like a California baby with that cute complexion
